Words of the Week: Internet Search & Search Engine

INTERNET SEARCH:  
An internet search is quite helpful, for you can put a keyword into a search engine to find all the pages on the Internet with that specific keyword.  An internet search is done through a search engine.

SEARCH ENGINE:
Search engines are located on the internet and help you do an internet search.  There are TONS of search engines on the Internet -- some are for specific topics, while others are more general.  For example, here are few general search engines that you may recognize:

• Google
• Yahoo
• MSN
• Yahoo!
• Dogpile
• Bing

Some Search Engines are for specific searches.  For example, did you know that if you are home sick one day, and your mother would like to know what you may have based on symptoms -- you can check out WebMD.com.  Your mother can put in your symptoms and have the search engine of WebMD search their database for cures, suggestions, or even a medical plan.

Words of the Week: Webpage or Website?

Think you know the difference between a webpage and a website?

A website is a group of pages on the internet.  A website is made up of several webpages.  A webpage is a specific page online that is located within a website.

Still stuck?  For example, Target.com offers tons of information about all the cool products they sell.  If you are looking for a specific game for your Wii, you would go to the Electronics webpage.  Target.com is the website, whereas the Electronic section is one of it's webpages.
